Looking At Music

Okay, so you've probably heard that saying "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture" (very possibly within these pages). But if you were to try and capture music visually, what would it look like? A new art exhibition, Looking at Music, might give you a good idea. The show collects pieces that were influenced by music, including self-portraits by James Dupree inspired by the blues tunes he was listening to while painting; traditional Cambodian instruments made by Koung Peang; documentary photos of musicians by Tom Morton and Greg Bishop and even a Mummers costume. Feast your eyes, or is that ears…

-Neil Gladstone

Opening reception, Wed., Jan. 27, 5 -7 p.m., City Hall, second and fourth floors; exhibition runs through May 7, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., 215-683-2078.
