The Olivia Tremor Control/the Music Tapes

On The Olivia Tremor Control's second album, Black Foliage: Animation Music by The Olivia Tremor Control (Flydaddy), the band proves itself to be the pop equivalent of the McDLT. One side of the group's personality prefers swirling, psychedelic songs reminiscent of George Harrison's contributions to The White Album. The other side embraces the ambient compositions influenced by Morton Feldman and Stockhausen. A rousing sing-along tumbles into disjointed noise and back again. As if The Olivia Tremor Control's enchanted creations weren't enough to make their show bliss-filled, the band also projects surrealistic movies during performances. Drop in and freak out. Also on the bill is The Music Tapes, the lo-fi pop combo headed by Julian Koster, known for his singing saw work with Neutral Milk Hotel. (Oh, and for whatever it's worth to ya, both outfits are card-carrying members of the Elephant 6 collective.)
