DJ Icey — like a Floridian Rabbit In The Moon — plays it like he makes it on Essential: crisp and with the same heavy beat he did on his 1998 joint Generate. Like the rest of the Essential series, Icey gives into like-minded faves, like those spun at The Edge, jumping from Paul Rubin’s groove-ride glorified "Party Going On" to the Mantronix-modern of Kay Cee’s "Escape." Moody moments like the karnevil techno of Orbital or Azzido Do Bass neither slow nor daunt Icey’s acerbic but still joyous mix. And he ain’t no dummy.
