Guy Davis

Think of him as more of a blues fountain of youth. Give in Kind, recently debuted on Red House, explores many styles, all with his trademark gritty vocals. He launches the CD with a touch of the old Memphis sound, complete with blues mandolin and washboard on a Big Bill Broonzy tune. Being an innovator as well as resuscitator, Davis adds didgeridoo on one of his original Chicago-style songs. Another original, "Honey Dew Melon Rag," is strictly fancy acoustic fingerpicking. The son of Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, he has naturally had a dual career in music and theater, with film and TV to his credit as well. With luck he'll give a taste of his one-man show, "Fishy Waters" -- the reminiscing of a guitar picking, rail-riding drifter -- when he reaches the Keswick this week.

Thu., May 9 and Fri., 10, 8 p.m., $30, w/ David Bromberg, Keswick Theatre, Easton Rd. and Keswick Ave., 215-572-7650, www.keswicktheatre.com.
