Life is full of second chances. Mariah Carey gets her own label with Island/Def Jam after getting screwed by Virgin. After a dogmeat solo, Mick Jagger still gets y’all frothy over a lottery to get Rolling Stones Tower tickets. P.S. to local club owners currently acting like cavones trying to throw money at the old Rollers: Despite hinting at club/bar dates, you cannot book them. That in-betweenie time in Philly (the Vet Stadium gig is Sep. 18, the Tower isn’t until the 22nd), has been First Unioned -- they play the Center Sept. 20. Watch the Stones’ blimp for more details. For a second chances on a local level, see YB Entertainment’s Lisa Colbath, the indie manager/booker who tried for eons to get acts into EFC/Clear Channel venues. “Remember, I went public with my gripes?” she asks. “Well, Tha PhilliBlaze is at Tha TLA May 25.” A delighted Colbath talks up her happy hip-hop clients’ local show (especially Grand Agent’s new CD, Fish Outta Water and a track, “Skillz Philly” on DJ Revolution’s new album) as a stepping stone to tour PhilliBlaze all over the place (with a still-secret major sponsor). “Between Tim Savage and us, Philly underground is going mainstream!”… In case you’re wondering what happened to the cast of Throttle -- Philly hardcore’s answer to The Osbournes -- singer Joe Annaruma is in N’Orleans directing a self-scribed horror film with Throttle music as soundtrack. Also signed, The Bigger Lovers: to Chapel Hill, N.C.’s Yep Roc; home of BL heroes Nick Lowe, Chris Stamey and the Philly dogs’ superchunkiest fan base. “Lots of guys in Soft Boys and Uncle Tupelo T-shirts -- definitely our audience,” says drummer Pat Berkery. A Thom Monahan-produced Honey in the Hive is due in August.… DJ Terry Lee Love (Barrett) started year 12 of Caribbean Sundays at KatManDu already. Now the rumor’s mutating into him opening a second-floor tapas-menu’d luxe lounge (named Denim?) in cahoots with a very hot Old City manager and the designers of Scottsdale, Ariz.’s steamiest venue, Six. I hear a post-Labor Day opening, but his M3 Events and PR won’t confirm, won’t deny.… Suzanne and her fellow waitresses at Silk City bring back their Burning Man bash (“an extravaganza dedicated to love and chaos”) May 16 as a costume/lingerie ball with mud wrestling and Twister.… Parties: Mark Simone’s Young Prof thing “Avant l’ete” hits Moda May 17.
