Glenn Tilbrook

Rock/Pop

It's not often you get a recipe with your power pop. On "Sunday Breakfast Treat," from Glenn Tilbrook's solo debut The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook (Quixotic), the erstwhile Squeeze vocalist provides the ingredients necessary to make the perfect Welsh rarebit. No, he's not trying out for a musical version of Iron Chef, but rather continuing his streak of creating sumptuous songs, a feat that he has mastered throughout his nearly 30-year career. The album, featuring two tracks co-written by pals Aimee Mann and Ron Sexsmith, is breezy pop that hearkens back to the early Squeeze days. (This is most evident on "G.S.O.H. Essential," which references the band's classic "Take Me I'm Yours"). Tilbrook comes to the Tin Angel this week with a show packed with newer material and Squeeze favorites. Bring a pen to jot down any more recipes that he may throw at you.

Tue., May 21, 8:30 p.m.; Sat., May 25, 7 p.m.; $18 each show, Tin Angel, 20 S. Second St., 215-928-0770, www.tinangel.com.
