Oops! (The Tour)

The bands on Oops! (The Tour) all share a commitment to commandeering the noise Gravitron. Using sometimes the sparest of instrumentations, they bend the sound barrier until it's about to pop, then quickly give their audiences a short pause before once again gleefully throwing the switch to blast the entire room back against the wall with the sheer force of their noise. But the devotion to mind-blowing volume doesn't prevent these bands from putting on a compelling visual performance -- Providence's Lightning Bolt recently put out a DVD, The Power of Salad, which splices together live footage and animation. Also absolutely transfixing is the Baltimore drum and guitar duo Orthrelm, whose live set is an epic, multi-movement freakout of arpeggios and drum rolls. Burnouts with access to the Troubleman label's catalog should be drawing this band's logo in blue ballpoint on every canvas binder they own.

Fri., July 19, 7 p.m., $10, all ages, 21+ to drink, with The Locust, Lightning Bolt, Arab on Radar, Orthrelm and Wolf Eyes, Gasoline, Eighth and Callowhill sts., 215-629-0614, www.r5productions.com.
