August 8-14, 2002 city beat Klibanoff leavingDuring a Wednesday afternoon meeting, Inquirer deputy managing editor Hank Klibanoff announced that he would be leaving to accept a managing editors position at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, starting Oct. 1. Im very excited about this opportunity, says Klibanoff, who has also said that he supports the personnel overhaul thats about to occur at the Inky. Theyve been looking for someone for a while. They sought me out. The managing editor post at the Inky has been open since January, when Phillip Dixon left. Klibanoff applied for that position, but didnt get it. According to the Journal-Constitution, Klibanoffs title will be managing editor/news. James Mallory, a Journal-Constitution deputy managing editor, will be promoted to managing editor/initiatives and operations.
