Far be it from me to clear up rumor, but let’s get this working-class rock-wonk out the way fast so I can dis someone else. A week ago Saturday saw Marah’s Dave B. and not his bro -- hey, if you’re gonna rumormonger, get it half-right or leave it to the pros -- but, rather, Mark Boyce (shame on you, Mark) on a boozed-up mission at The Fire. Target: The Trouble With Sweeney. In quick succession, Marah boys heckled TTWS, pulled wires out of keyboards, got guitar-butted, then heckled upon exit. How Irish. At the limp finale of their Khyber residency, Marah waited in vain for retribution from TTWS members. Alas, no fists, just fat dudes hoping for Bruce. Speaking of Bruces, Marah mentor Warren of WXPN sent out e-notes curious as to where the e-rumors about his SoundScan-slipping pals and The Fire incident came from. Short answer: everywhere. Next.… As Jazzy Jeff gets ready to release his debut CD, his old-school old pal Cash Money DJs La Tazza Aug. 9.… Chris Morris leaves Khyber’s bar manager position for very green pa$tures. His replacement: Lisa Anderson.… Michele Malin-Seidman’s not only PRing Cirque du Soleil’s Icarus-themed September spectacular on Washington Ave.; she’s doing its opening night soiree -- likely at da Naval Base -- for 3,000 peeps, including Cirque CEOs. Last year’s bash was the season’s best.… When DJ Michael DeCero showed David Bowie his Heathen CD cover tattoo backstage at Tweeter, not only did he get a “very nice” from Bowie, he got an autograph on his arm to make permanent too. Where do you go for a tat at 11 p.m. on a Tuesday? Kate at NoKaOi Tiki Tattoo, 610 S. Fourth, did it up.… Toast to the host of ambient sound in this town, Chuck van Zyl’s The Gathering, as he kicks off his 10th year at St. Mary’s at U of P, Aug. 11, with a compilation CD and a moody showcase from his Ministry of Inside Things, co-starring Peter Gulch.… Dave Pianka’s three-floor Making Time at Transit on Aug. 9 salutes robo-act Interpol’s Matador CD Turn on the Bright Lights, a soundtrack to 24 Hour Party People and a post-show Oasis (somebody tell Marah not to show unless they wanna give Liam and Noel their “new” sound back).… So the Hack thing localite David Morse keeps “secretly” filming in town still needs friendly faces. Send stuff to Diane Heery and Mike Lemon, 413 N. Seventh St., 19123.… ProtoLounge no more! Brad and Kyber Bernstein and TJ Gersh have changed its name to The Living Room of Philadelphia and will redo the decor to feature waterfalls, couches and very relaxing things. Grand opening: September.… The Monty Hall of booking guys, Rick D, will book jazz dinners on Govinda’s second floor every Saturday starting Aug. 10, with the likes of Elliot Levin, Animus, etc. He’ll do Sunday jazz brunches in September. Meanwhile, his Tritone hosts a rare show from space-soul locals Colette Carter on Aug. 9 and the bi-gay-DJ circus antics of G-Room on Aug. 10.… If you caught photog Chris Meck’s “Final Chord: Last Days of Acme Piano Company” exhibit at Silicon on opening night, then you happily witnessed not only warm, stark snaps but, 1. a very pregnant Meck, and 2. a beaming proud Jim Graham, her fiancé.… With R5’s Desaparecidos and Radio 4 shows moved/canceled/gig-invaded by L&I, are Sean Agnew’s bookings now free from attack and dime-droppin’ biz-haters?.… Jerseyite Dylan Gadino’s quirky pop-rock Joanie Loves Trotsky makes a Philly debut at The Fire Aug. 10 with Cordalene.… Once known as Bonehead, Philly’s Familiar 48 not only release a debut Wonderful Nothing on MCA, produced by Don Gehman (Mellencamp, R.E.M.), but they’ll pit stop the Troc Aug. 8.… X Games already? Nah. Bodyrock’s Lil’ Dave and his crew spin Aug. 10-11, noon-5 p.m., at Franklin Institute while skate teams fly.… Local songwriter/producer news: Rugged Ness delivers two songs for Freeway on Roc-A-Fella, one track for Poker Face’s CD on ArtistDirect and one song for Keith Murray’s CD on Def Jam, which also gets a Qur’an Goodman tune. Joe Staxx meanwhile has one song on a new Ms. Jade CD on Beat Club/Interscope, one for Poker Face and one on the new Eve CD, Eve-Olution.… Philly activist/city planner Nathaniel Popkin reads from his lovely debut, Song of the City (Four Walls Eight Windows), at Molly’s Cafe, Aug. 8, 8 p.m.… DJ Crystal heads to Brooklyn, but not before she gets goodbye kisses from pals upstairs at L’Hexagone Aug. 8.… Big Leo b-day wishies to Club Nostradamus’ Robin Parry, Susan Weiss, DJs Reenie Kane and Lee Jones (how old is he?), and Preacher Curl-ers Joe Kim and Val Glass, who celebrate Aug. 10 at N. 3rd with free Yuengling for everyone.… A sad note: Condolences to the family of keyboardist Joe Kelly (High Times), who passed away from kidney failure.
