Phantom Planet

You may know them best from their Philly-filled music video "Hey Now Girl" -- oh wait, what ever happened to that video? On a frost-bitten day in early January left-coasters Phantom Planet shot a music video that served both as a second single for their album The Guest and as a extra on the Bikini Bandits DVD. But with little (zero?) MTV airplay and a limited-time spot on the band's official website, "Hey Now Girl" seems to have gone right back into the can. Still, this hasn't stopped the boys from a releasing another single, "Lonely Day," filming a brand new music video without us and performing a slew of club dates in support of the band's Levis ad campaign and drummer Jason Schwartzman's new film Simone. That last bit may not be altogether true but Phantom Planet will be coming back to town with a few more pairs of dangerously low bootcut jeans, a few less dancing strippers and loads of fun songs. Give a shout-out for their cover of Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up."

Tue., Sept. 10, 7 p.m., $12, with Superdrag and OK Go, The Trocadero, 10th and Arch sts., 215-922-LIVE.
