Jazzanova

This six-man DJ/producer entourage from Berlin was already world-renowned before they got around to releasing their first full-length album earlier this year. Since their landmark debut single, 1995's "Fedime's Flight," the sextet has been continuously remixing the likes of 4 Hero, Incognito, Soul Bossa Trio and Ursula Rucker, generating a plenitude of silky nuggets concocted through sampling wizardry -- refreshingly organic-sounding, yet electronically bent. Now here's In Between (Ropeadope/Compost), an album gently oozing with rich and refined, groovy, soul-slurping, sample-heavy smoothness flowing with wacky time signatures, worldly rhythms, modern beats and deep, supple jazz. As you might expect, Jazzanova enlisted a cast of notable guest players and vocalists like David Friedman, Hajime Hoshizawa, Micatone's Paul Kleber, MC 900 Ft. Jesus rapper Hawkeye Fanatic, Capitol A, plus Philly's own Vikter Duplaix and Rucker. For their Philly debut, two members of Jazzanova will perform a DJ set of nu jazzy, soul-laden, broken beat exotica.

Thu., Sept. 5, 9:30 p.m.-2 a.m., $10, with Koop and DJ Jugo, Silk City, Fifth and Spring Garden sts., 215-592-8838.
