The Brothers Suggarillo. You know them, you love them. Well, you know them at least. The duo -- Victor Fiorillo and James Sugg -- have been the freak-flying toast of the Tritone/Five Spot/Bob & Barb's/Silk City/ PhillyMag post-punk, kitsch-cabaret cover band experience downtown; they've been known to cart along the Pig Iron Theatre likes of Dito van Reigersberg (in drag), burlesque dancing beauties like Kitty Buddha and magician dads to their marvelous messy showcases. Now, for something completely different, they've created and will host arguably "The World's Largest Karaoke Party Ever" for their Super-Mecca Karaoke Gong Show. While judges like Psydde Delicious, Big Tea Party/vegan lady Elizabeth Fiend and mega-meat-man Tony Luke Jr. look on, you -- yes, you -- will have an opportunity to pick amongst the Bros' 10,000 available tunes with which to dazzle the fuzzy-mallet-wielding panel à la Chuck Barris. While the Suggs operate in mysterious Barrisesque fashion, winners can pick up prizes like tix to any five Trocadero events, or a year's supply of Tony Luke's sandwiches. Losers will have to content themselves with having been seen on the Troc's 24-foot movie screen. "Never before has karaoke been done on this scale," says Fiorillo. "Not even in Malaysia." So who's to question?
The Brothers Suggarillo Super Mecca-Karaoke Gong Show, Thu., Sept. 12, The Trocadero, 10th and Arch sts. Doors open at 8 p.m, show starts at 9 p.m., arrive early to sign up, $3.
