Philadelphia College Festival Concert and Expo, Sat., Sept. 21, 2 p.m.-8 p.m., free, Ben Franklin Parkway, www.campusphilly.org/collegefestival.
Fall's blowing in, and so are the college students: The city's campuses, which have slowly been filling during the first weeks of September, are gearing up for yet another year of pencils, books and dirty looks. The Greater Philadelphia College Town Project is trying to move University City's center eastward, if only for Saturday. Here to greet the new kids coming down to Center City for the first time will be the Philadelphia College Festival's kickoff party/marketing extravaganza, featuring performances by The Roots and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as well as free student admission to the Parkway's museums. That night, budding campus fashionistas can head to the Liacouras Center, where Eve presides over a fashion show and concert featuring wares from Sean John, Phat Farm, and other overachieving labels. Just remember: No matter how tempting logo-emblazoned water bottles and T-shirts may seem, filling out every credit card application proffered will only lead you down a doomed path.
