Last week was the Stones-watch, now prepare for many French people writhing and smoking through Center City, since Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai took over. Not only did they get their own cocktail-tasting party at L’Hexagone (where they had a drink named after them) and Broad Street opening night celebs Jill Scott, Lauren Hart and Lynne Abraham in attendance (J-Lo and Ben Affleck also requested tix for this, and the Stones Tower show), CdS also got a visit from the Rolling Stones at their post-opening night party thrown by MP3 at 1616. After the Stones taped a segment for 60 Minutes in the basement of 1616, they ate in unison (Wood, Jagger, family) at Tangerine; then, ’cuz they liked 1616, returned there for Michelle Malin-Seidman’s Cirque party, hung in private and wouldn’t let us take pictures, preferring to sip Fanta Orange and Absolut alone. Now that’s decadent. Previously, Jagger noshed lobster crepes at Buddakan (on Stephen Starr’s dime), Chrissie Hynde ate lunch at Brasserie Perrier and bassist Daryl Jones hung with the PretendersMartin Chambers at Club Nostradamus’ opening night at Ulana’s.
