You've seen him on those collect-call commercials and likely, if you're living in the collegiate world, he's come to a campus near you, but has all the fame from these two stately accomplishments gone to Mr. Top's unruly red head?
If you think those credentials are impressive, check this out: Not only did that Justin kid from American Idol cop his Brillo-style -- come on Justin, give it up -- but according to The Miami Herald, Carrot Top, at one point during the Florida democratic gubernatorial primaries, pushed ahead of Bill McBride and Janet Reno with 671,522 votes. Somehow this doesn't seem right to me. I remember writing "Sock Monkey for SGA president" on a ballot when I was in college, but come on, this is the real world. On the other hand, given the history of Florida elections, anything's possible. We've got a Mickey Mouse for president, right?

During their heyday, those 1-800-COLLECT commercials aired every 15 minutes, and if you -- for some mixed-up reason -- actually enjoyed his shot-in-arm delivery and scarring Bozo-without-the-makeup visage, then you'll dig C-T's performance at the Strand tonight. For what it's worth, he's shared the spotlight on said commercials with the likes of ALF, Mr. T, Mike Piazza and David Arquette, so that's got to count for something. And if you're not tired of ubiquitous Carrot sightings, you'll be happy to know that he'll soon stand in the has-been lineup this season on Hollywood Squares.
Carrot Top, Thu., Sept. 26, 8 p.m., $35-$38, The Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, N.J., 732-367-7789, www.strandlakewood.com.
