The (Un)Beat(en) Generation

The Crescendo Theatre company will be paying homage to poet Allen Ginsberg with A Howl, a production inspired by Ginsberg's life and words. A Howl is the tale of a young man's search for himself through the mind and poetry of Ginsberg. You'll follow this man through the trials of his mundane life until a chance encounter with a carnival of characters turns his world upside down and brings him to realize the value of the road less traveled (and find himself in the process). The production will be augmented by live music and performances from local rapper Grandsunn and spoken word artist Davina Stewart. With contemporary poetic elements mixed into a show revolving around a poem from the jazz-influenced Beat movement, A Howl may prove to be a showcase for the best minds of a new generation.

A Howl, Oct. 3-26, $15, The Willow Theatre, 421 N. Seventh St., 215-629-0897.
