Friends, audiophiles, collectors, lend me your ears! For those of us out there who spend way too much time in record stores or on the Internet looking for copies of that rare Joy Division 12-inch, live Miles Davis imports or the holy grail that is the Beach Boys' Smile bootleg, have faith: The record and CD convention is coming to town! These sorts of trade shows are the bread and butter of both the desiring phonophile and your straight-up, hardcore music junkie. Like most conventions, the Philly Record & CD Show will have vendors selling, buying and trading a host of vinyl, CDs, tapes and 12-inches, new and used, as well as other memorabilia. The genres of music represented will cross the spectrum from rock to country, while dipping into sub-sub-genres, e.g. lo-fi Japanese grindcore. So, my record-obsessed brothers and sisters, save your pennies and actually write down your mental need-to-buy list because, with vinyl starting at $1 and used CDs at $2, that deleted Smiths single could be yours.

Philadelphia Record & CD Show, Sun., Nov. 3, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., $5, Radisson Hotel, 2400 Old Lincoln Highway and U.S. Route 1, Trevose, 973-773-6067.
