IKEA, well-known for its ergonomic furniture and cozy store displays, is introducing another comfortable experience: shopping in your pajamas.
Of course, you can shop in your sleepwear whenever you want, but this is the ³World"s Largest Pajama Party,² a special event to raise money for Save the Children, an organization that provides health, education and economic services to impoverished children in the United States and around the globe.
Customers who come to the brand-new Conshohocken IKEA in their pajamas and donate a children"s book on Feb. 22 or 23 will receive a free gift from the Swedish furniture superstore. IKEA is donating $10 to Save the Children for each book it receives.
People who prefer to sleep
au naturelare not advised to show up in their birthday suits. Customers who come in jeans instead of a nightie can still make a book donation, said John Zurcher, IKEA"s U.S. manager of social and environmental affairs. They just don"t get the free stuff.
The money and books will be used in Save the Children"s Reading Comes First program, which promotes children"s literacy in poor urban and rural areas through literacy centers furnished with brightly colored IKEA children"s furniture.
Since people might look at you funny if you made a grocery run in your bathrobe, this is a good chance to show off the novelty pajamas you got for Christmas. You probably won"t feel like getting dressed over the weekend anyway.
