You express that you feel no sorrow for the flag wavers and complainers who did not bother to vote [Pretzel Logic, Howard Altman, May 22, 2003]. Well, I work from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday! I did manage to vote. But for who! A bunch of kiss-ass politicians who owe allegiance to a corrupt system that should be overhauled!
Like Shakespeare said, "Kill all the lawyers," and in my thinking, maybe not kill them, but let them live in poverty or work 12-hour days like I do for a couple of years and see if we have real compassionate leaders with vision!
You want people to go out and vote, like they did when the plurality did for Gore! Yeah, real votes do count! Not.
It all comes down to trust, faith and honor. We have very little in regard to that in the political arena. I think you have to be a kiss-ass before you can be considered a candidate in our culture. Chaotic warfare serves the masses better than the political crap that we are offered!
Yet, you blast most of the people who feel disillusioned by our so-called democracy. All words that amount to nothing in most people's view!
I voted for the removal of any judge who has been in office more than one term and in the words of the beloved Ben Franklin, "This is a republic if you can keep it." Well that lasted less than a week when our second president aligned himself with British Crown!
This government is nothing but an extension of the imperialist nation!
Yet you think votes really count! Bullshit.

I read Gale Warning [Daryl Gale, May 15, 2003] with a wry, knowing smile.
From 1977 to 1981, I lived in Bucks County and had the "pleasure" of riding the Conrail trains operated by SEPTA. I frequently encountered the same situation as you described, with no explanation given. I can recall several instances when this occurred during a summer evening, and the train would be shut down sometimes for an hour or more. Talk about a group of hot, surly commuters! Our feelings were intensified by the significantly higher fares we had paid, as opposed to the $2 you were taken for.
In 1981, I moved to South Jersey and experienced a truly remarkable commuting experience, the Lindenwold High-Speed Line. It's clean, dependable and efficient. The one or two times I remember a problem, the operator promptly advised us what was going on (and yes, the train was kept running so we wouldn't suffocate). The delay was rectified within 15 minutes.
Does that SEPTA spokesperson honestly believe that stuff he was swilling out? As you can tell from my story, things haven't changed one bit! SEPTA management, take note: The public isn't as stupid as you take them to be. Your survival depends on a captive audience. Why don't you try something different, instead of the same-old same-old?
