Creekside Jamboree

It will probably be a healthy change of pace to spend two days camping, breathing fresh air and listening to music at the Creekside Jamboree. But the lineup is sick. In the shadow of the Endless Mountains, The Roots deliver their instrumental hip-hop, lyrical shrewdness and homegrown flavor. The New Deal bumps out an energetic dose of progressive breakbeat house with live instruments. The 14-plus members of Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra follow in the tradition of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, unleashing a new brand of Afrobeat vigorously driven by horns, bass, polyrhythmic beats and enraged lyrics recited in English, Yoruba and Spanish. Also brace yourself for the roots reggae of Israel Vibration (backed by Roots Radics Band), the intuitive groove of Sound Tribe Sector Nine, the dynamic improvisations of The Slip, the diverse musical fusion of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, the punked-out acoustic-ness of Old Crow Medicine Show, the deeply lyrical songs and stories of Leslie Helpert and the funky poetry and pulsations of GFE (Granola Funk Express). So bring your tents, tarps, water, flashlights, Frisbees, sunscreen and bug repellent. Besides music, Creekside offers tai chi classes, a kids' tent, biking trails and swimming holes at the wild and true Almost Heaven Campground in Forksville, Pa. It's kind of a hike, but you can't quite do this sort of thing within the city limits, you know?

Fri., June 6 and Sat., June 7, $80-$110 for the weekend (including camping), $70-$90 Sat. only, with The Roots, Israel Vibration, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, The Slip, The New Deal, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, GFE, Leslie Helpert and Old Crow Medicine Show, Almost Heaven Campground, Forksville, Pa., 866-384-3060, www.azpro.com.
