The (no name) Art Group is a collective dedicated to collaborative projects. Since their inception in 2000, the group has put together an exhibition of self-portraits mixing attributes of the artists in the group, created an "Artists’ Alphabet" with 26 artists each making a letter, and this year came out with a calendar designed by 12 artists, one for each month. For their latest collaboration, (no name) Art Group has come up with "Bookmark ’03: Artists Contributing to Children’s Literacy." Twenty-nine artists took the challenge to design a bookmark based on any children’s story or nursery rhyme. The artists were encouraged to interpret this assignment widely, using a variety of tales and media to create their bookmarks. Prints of the bookmarks (including these pictured, by Jennifer Martorello, Jeff McCloskey and Timothy J. Prough) will be on sale for $3 each at B Square Gallery, with all of the proceeds donated to First Book Philadelphia, a local branch of a national literacy program dedicated to providing underprivileged kids with new books. The three bucks you spend on a bookmark will buy a child one book through the program. With innovative projects like these, this art group will certainly make a name for itself in the local arts scene.

“Bookmark ’03: Artists Contributing to Children’s Literacy,” ongoing through the summer, B Square Gallery, 614 S. Ninth St., 215-625-0692.
