Not for the faint of heart, The Legendary Shack Shakers alt-country sideshow-meets-bootleggers tent revival features Col. J.D. Wilkes (The Skinniest Man On Earth) performing acts of creepy physical dexterity and vocal lechery. While he sings about trolling for hookups via CB radio or the murderous rampage of Roderick Ferrell, Joe Buck (The Meanest Man In Music) plays a wicked guitar and spits crazy looks and random "motherfuckers" at the crowd. But its all in the service of bringing out the dirty fun of Cockadoodledont (Bloodshot). Their mix of old-school country, cowpunk, rockabilly and blues wrapped up in high-energy showmanship wowed the country-friendly crowd at SXSW in March and stumped the hipsters at the North Star in May. Whatever your affiliation, come out for a show thatll rattle your bones and make you feel dirty in a good way. Timid motherfuckers can stand in the back of the room.
Sat., July 26, 9 p.m., $8, with Sugar Skulls and Rifle Choir, The Khyber, 56 S. Second St., 215-238-5888.
