West Philly Mummers Brigade
They've permeated every pore of Philly activist society, and taken to the streets on several different occasions, so it was sort of inevitable that at some point, Spiral Q would bring us the West Philly Mummers Brigade. By the time you read this, there'll be just enough time to plan your New Year's morning post-party trip over to Broad Street to see our lads and lasses from 34th and Spring Garden -- armed, no doubt, with a few of their favorite banners, puppets and counter-corporate costumes -- do what they do best: parade for change. They, along with the rest of the more established brigades, will trek along Broad from Oregon Avenue to City Hall. And so, while the whole event takes months of planning -- and in Spiral Q's case, several days' worth of building puppets and constructing props -- all that really matters is that you haul yourself down to South Philly, take a seat on the sidewalk and yell for them till you're sober.
