More stuff going on this week…

This is a project so big it took three venues to exhibit it: "Picturing Women," a 200-work show covering five centuries and several media, examines the way women have been portrayed in portraits, photographs and stories over the years, and the way cultural and societal changes have affected those characterizations. Portraits, installations, medical documents, costumes, advertisements and more tell the story. See it at Bryn Mawr College, the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Rosenbach Museum and Library. Jan. 23-May 30 at the three venues. Visit www.picturingwomen.org or call Bryn Mawr (610-526-6576), the Library Company (215-546-3181) or the Rosenbach (215-732-1600) for more information about exhibition-related symposium and public events.

If Kristin Noblette's eerie photograph on the postcard for the show is any indication, Creative Artists Network's winter exhibition at Moore will feature risk-taking, provocative work from its artists -- including Keith Sharp, Ben Johnson, Dominic Episcopo, Shalya Marsh, Shawn Williams and 12 other artists. Jan. 27-Feb. 13, Moore College of Art & Design, 20th Street and the Parkway, 215-546-7775.
danceA talent-packed event: Ron Wood (Zen One, Rennie Harris Puremovement), Rebecca Sloan (The Bald Mermaids) and Kristen Shahverdian present new works as part of the CEC's New Edge Mix series. Cellist/composer Monica McIntyre will also perform, accompanied by Tania Alexandra, Joshua Robinson, Davina Stewart and Tamara Xavier. Fri.-Sat., Jan. 23-24, 8 p.m. and Sun., Jan. 25, 3 p.m., $8-$10, Community Education Center, 3500 Lancaster Ave., 215-387-1911.
