One week before Valentine’s Day, here’s your chance to make that last-minute love connection. Part singles mixer, part open mic, My Ode to Hip-Hop Love offers a platform for folks to get on the mic and rhyme, proclaim their love or just be. There will be specially timed interludes for small talk. Thu., Feb. 5, 8 p.m., free, The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St., www.foundationarts.org.
Following a short hiatus, the quality programming of DJ Junior and his "Eavesdrop" radio show has made a triumphant return to Drexel's free-format airwaves. But wait, the show is now a two-piece, as DJ Lil' Dave (of the Ill Vibe Collective) joins Junior to form "Eavesdrop/Big Brother Beats." This week DJ Mike Nyce is interviewed and spins a special guest set packed with acid jazz, hip-hop, soul and excursions into the future of the funk. Fri., Feb. 6, 6-9 p.m., WKDU 97.1 FM, www.wkdu.org.
Might it be Ill Vibe Collective week in Philly? Celebrating the third anniversary of The Bodyrock, the legendary DJ Cash Money spins alongside the whole IVC -- DJs Statik, Panek, Phillee Blunt, Lil' Dave and Skipmode. (See Music Picks on p. 37 for more info.) Sat., Feb. 7, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., $7 before midnight, $10, Aqua Lounge, 323 W. Girard Ave., www.illvibe.net. Or witness live hip-hop as The Balcony explodes with Philadelphia Phreedom, featuring J. Sands, Greek, Illit, ShoNuff, Black Opz, GQ, Untouchable Squad, Tim Savage, Mr. Blackston, Beat Fiends and DJ CruCut. Be there early -- the open mic runs 9-10 p.m. Sat., Feb. 7, 9 p.m., $7, The Balcony, 1003 Arch St., 215-922-LIVE.
The latest installment of The Womb commences with poet Bernard Collins (a.k.a. "The Insane Genius"), the words and lyricism of Lady Adeana and The Womb house band Vibe Nation. The theme for the evening is eroticism, so open mic'ers are requested to bring their sexiest poetry. The audience can get comfy in PJs and lingerie while lounging on pillows or beanbags. (Bring your own!) Sun., Feb. 8, 6:30 p.m., free, Temple University, Mitten Hall, Broad and Berks sts.
Wednesday night is back in effect as DJ Deta and IVC (again) spin The Difference, a night of feel-good music that genre-jumps through hip-hop, soul, jazz, house, bossa nova and everything else known to man. Wed., Feb. 11, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., free, Red Sky, 224 Market St., www.illvibe.net.
