Industrial
Our blackened hearts are pumping like they did when Skinny Puppy, KMFDM and Ministry made brutal, dark and deadly electronic music in the 80s; industrial is back and full-blown. DJ Black Widows Sin Thursday at La Tazza showcases the futuristic chaos every week, this time around hosting the toxic turmoil of The Domination Tour. First is the power noise and EBM of Seattles Manufactura. He bombards us with outward aggression, liquidy atmospherics and devastating rhythms. Then theres Christ Analogue whose powerful grit ranges from hard-hitting mayhem to smooth ambient textures using drum machines, synthesizers and enraged vocals. Finally, Chicagos Sister Machine Gun destroys us with grinding synth distorted guitars and pounding live drums a mix of electro, industrial and Hendrix-flavored rock. The songs I make are about emotions good and bad, asserts SMG frontman Chris Randall. I just hope that people can fit them into the soundtrack of their own life.
Sin Thursday, Thu., May 6, 9 p.m.-2 a.m., $10 ($8 with flier), with Sister Machine Gun, Christ Analogue, Manufactura and residents, La Tazza, 108 Chestnut St., 215-922-7322, www.sinthursday.com.
