Yeah Man!

DANCE/ELECTRONIC

Lookin' for a little old-school rave-ola? Back when Circle Productions was called Special K, it was the crew responsible for throwing some of Philly's finest rave events in the early to mid-'90s like It, Do It, Bust It, Move It and Sneakers In The Park. Aside from one-offs, Special K kept the blissful beats pumpin' every week at the scorching, un-air conditioned Nile on the corner of Thirteenth and Locust (now a strip club). That party was Yo Man!. Philly kids of rave's heyday danced, twirled and rolled to the funky house of Rob Paine, O'Keef and Narayan — later adding the hip-hop of John L and the breakneck jungle of Spooky T (now Jae Kennedy). The Wednesday night party moved to Club 1415 where more DJs were added to the bill such as Sean Thomas, DJ Trace, Karl K, King Britt, Deep C, Chris Udoh and Dozia. It was a midweek haven for Philly's dance enthusiasts and all-out ravers. Now Circle wants to bring back that flavor. They're hosting a new monthly at Fluid featuring Paine, O'Keef, Jon Gunshor and Kevin Gimble (founder of Circle/Special K) and rockin' out all that old-school house, breaks, jungle, classic ravey gravy.

Thu., July 15, 10 p.m., with Rob Paine, O'Keef, Jon Gunshor and Kevin Gimble, Fluid, 613 S. Fourth St., 215-629-0565.
