With my weeklong birthday/wedding anniversary celebration at its end (Un Chien Andalou meets The Song Remains the Same, only without the horse I think) and my back pocket crammed with Fringe stickers and Tragos flyers, I'd say summer's over. This begs for asking an interesting question, raised by an old associate: "Whereyabeen?" I sorrowfully missed the first night (but I won't the second!) of Yeah Man's third Thursday Circle reunions at Fluid, Ill Vibe's new party at North and the Point Breeze Dance Company's takeover of The Drake. On the plus, I missed the ass-kiss of Best of Philly (where winning is a relative term) and diminutive Seth Green hawking the dismal Without a Paddle (never got any taller or better than he was in Woody Allen's Radio Days, did he?). What was I doing? Running my neighborhood's Mary Kay Letourneau Kid Watch, exchanging boxing boots for krumping clown shoes, rehabbing my house and learning about forensic medicine for my turn in the new reality TV challenge Trading Cartilage. That's what the fuck I did. Oh. And I spit scalding espresso through my nose reading the Daily News' annual Sexiest Singles ish (I dare say A. Kar Vivekananthan of Venus Visual is hot!). Make like Nelly and get your eagle and your giggle on at 32° on Aug. 26 for the Sexiest Singles cocktail party. And that's right around the corner from Tom Drinker's Tavern, which will be holding a second anniversary bash/GirlsofPhilly.com wet T-shirt contest. Yahoo. The quote of the week comes from Philly.com's Young Involved Philadelphia story: "It's like one big echo chamber," said an anonymous City Hall critic regarding YIP's lack of racial and economic diversity and its choice of dumb issues (saving The Real World and Love Park). "They tend to stand up and ask a 10-point question, supported with quotes from Descartes." Dawgone Masterman musta tauwt those smarties Daycartz. Send them passes to boxer/promoter Damon Feldman's Ms. Montgomery County bikini contest at the Radisson Valley Forge on Aug. 27 with guests Beetlejuice and John the Stutterer (not Stuttering John even among this crowd there are subtleties). WHOWHATWHERE: Where did Prince and co. go following three nights at the Wach Center? Ask Tragos' Leah Matoney, who, with Justin Zeigler and the peeps of Squarebiz, transformed the dancefloor for the Purple One. "Justin installed several 42-inch flat-screen TVs and a custom-built pool table for the nightly afterparties," says Matoney. Usher, on the other hand, kept his trilby low while hanging at Suede's Grown & Sexy party. During his gig at the Wach, he got a visit from Jill Scott, who sat at the soundboard. Maybe Liv Tyler will stop by hubbie Royston Langdon's Sparticle show featuring the debut performance of In the Fur, starring ex-members of Tidewater Grain, Aug. 28, at Pontiac. And aren't they gone? The Real Worlders graced Glam a few times last week. Joe Hoeffel, fresh from his Borscht Belt shtick at Stu Bykofsky's Variety Club benefit, will next appear Aug. 30 at The Troc's "Jammin' for Joe" fundraiser for his Senate run, with Cordalene, Lauren Hart, Ben Arnold and MC Tommy Conwell. Before Nicki Jaine leaves town to become a touring member of Black Tape for a Blue Girl, and before post-Goth photographer Kyle Cassidy holds his multigenre exhibit in September at Afif Gallery, both celebrate each other by playing tunes from Of Pigeons and Other Curiosities and exhibiting new photos at Bar Noir's Monday Night Club, Aug. 30. Who's that playing behind Jeremy Piven and Carson Daly for Sept. 1's Last Call? House band The Capitol Years, stupid. It's a Philly thing: check NXNW Aug 27. Not only is singer-songwriter Eric Roberson debuting songs from The Vault, Vol. 1.5 (produced by Andre Harris and Vidal Davis), co-headliner Lady Alma will perform tracks from her new single on Masters at Work, "Higher," with Fanatix. Mike Reis' churlishly poppy Valsalva reunite after three years for Adam Boxleitner's benefit at the North Star, Aug. 28. Abilene fave/Songspot.org folk Adam Monaco opens for Blondie at the Borgata on Aug. 28. DJs Trishylicious and Chatty Cathy hold their last Bad Reputation at the Khyber Upstairs Aug. 26 with a DJ free-for-all. "It's time to move on to new things, take a little break and rethink what we're doing," says Trishy. "We hope to brainstorm after Cathy's big show writing the September Dumpsta Players' "Officer Manley's Cops.'" Word is that Blue Ribbon raw bars of NYC and Ellen Yin (who is expanding Fork's 306 Market space into 308 for a new private dining room/ gourmet-prepared food store/demonstration area) separately have been sniffing around Rittenhouse for properties. Blessed arrival: Promotrix/promotress Michele Seidman and husband Eric had Jared Cole Seidman, 7 pounds, 11 ounces, on Aug. 21. Another Leo like me. God bless.
