Northern Liberties Music Festival 4.0

festival

Besides the good food (from the Abbaye and K.C.'s Chuck Wagon) and the excellent music by local bands (Valsalva's back!), these free No-Libs Music Fests are so kick-ass because the whole arts-and-music-and-everything scene, and everybody else comes out, sits in the sun and plays nice. And now, a word about the sun: Previous festivals of this type, in this place, put on by these people, sometimes required rain date after rain date until the sun finally decided to show up drunk and with no good excuse. Co-organizer Ed Farnsworth has run out of deities to barter with, and his weather smurfing machine is stalled in pre-production, so we're going to have to rely on luck. Here's hoping there's a God, and he/she's a Wastoid fan.

Sat., Sept. 11, 2:30 p.m., free, with Wastoid, Bebek, Steve Phoenix, Pearly Gates, Cordalene, Xande Cruz and the Batukis Band, Mary Ellen Desmond, Midnite Grace and Valsalva, Liberty Lands Park, Third and Poplar sts., 215-351-1121.
