Brave Wireless World?
Last week, the world was atwitter with news of Mayor Street's plan for Philly to go all wireless hotspot on us. Soon, we may be able to take our iBooks on the bus and play, uh, online poker. While we're wary of the feasibility of the idea (can we really trust the city to keep the network from crashing at crucial moments, say, the next time Janet Jackson springs a boob and the world flocks to the Web for stills?), we give Street props for forward thinking. But, y'know, if this wireless thing all goes down, what the hell are we gonna do with all that wire?
The Bad Idea Factory's what-to-do-with-all-that-wire checklist:
- Jump ropes for poor kids who don't have computers
- Zipline to Camden
- Nooses for ISP CEOs
- Sell it to stupid Pittsburgh
- Just leave it on Isaiah Zagar's doorstep, he'll know what to do
