Ann Jillian starred in Jennifer Slept Here, a short-lived sitcom about a Hollywood mansion haunted by the ghost of a deceased movie star. Of the current inhabitants, only the 15-year-old faux-punk son, Joey (played by John P. Navin, only slightly better known as Cousin Dale from National Lampoon’s Vacation), knows she’s there. NBC ran 13 episodes in the 8:30 Friday night death slot before yanking it in early 1984. It was then promptly forgotten by everyone. Everyone, that is, except for Northern Liberties (the band) drummer/vocalist Justin Duerr, who will finally exorcise his sitcomedic demons this Saturday night at CODEspace.

What’s this all about? In addition to a live set, Northern Liberties will be shooting a scene from their soon-to-be-completed film Opening The Eye of the Séance, based (loosely, one suspects) on Jennifer Slept Here. According to Duerr, the ghost of Jennifer will take Joey on a Dante’s Inferno-inspired tour of the realms of the dead, with stops along the way to hear live music (that’s where the bands come in). Audience members are encouraged to come in costume, as they will be included/implicated in the performance. Work from local artists and filmmakers will be on display throughout the evening. Body painting, too.
