The legendary Bread & Puppet Theater, still going strong after more than 40 years of colorful, joyous political agitation, brings its Cardboard Celebration Circus to Bryn Mawr next weekend. Bread & Puppet likes to switch it up from show to show: some are small and indoors, some are large and indoors, some are parades through city streets, some are huge outdoor festivals. Don't be fooled by the colorful costumes, stilt dancers, haunting fiddle-playing and giant masks -- there is always more than just fun: Bread & Puppet is internationally famous for its political punch. And given this event's close proximity to Election Day, its course would seem clear. (In case there is any doubt, their politics are radically left-wing.) Founded by Peter Schumann, who still performs with the group, the company has won tons of awards and never fails to amaze.
Bread & Puppet Theater, Sat., Oct. 23, 2 p.m. (rain date Sun., Oct. 24, 2 p.m.), $12-$15, Thomas Cloisters, Bryn Mawr College, 101 N. Merion Ave., Bryn Mawr, 610-526-5210.
