Rock/dance/benefit
I've seen it happen before, a music-making friendold, youngstruck by disease, death or tragedy and in need of a financial lift. This time it's my pal DJ Johnny Chink, who's been hit with pancreatic cancer. That shit fucks you up fast. The care is costly. And Chink? Since his start, he's been the working man's DJ. Not the trance guy/laptopper/hip-hopper making records and flying coach to Berlin. Chink's the guy in the trenches, one who can spin any genre, anywhereMiami bass at Egypt, house at Glam, funk at warehouse parties. He also had a mix show on WIOQ. Plus, he's the guy you go to when your turntable busts or your mixer fries. All this means he's worked without benefits for 28 years. So DJ locals, indie electroids, Manhattan-based spinners and nationally known singers want you to work as hard for himthis one timeas he has for you for nearly 30 years. Capisce?
