OK, people, if we're gonna keep going with this whole We Heart Lewis and Clark Love-Fest 2005, we better hear something resembling a counterpoint. And who better to talk smack on our celebrated go-West whiteys than Native American author-satirist Sherman Alexie? In novels, short stories, screenplays (Smoke Signals), newspaper columns, readings, even standup comedy performances, Alexie directs his sly, careful wit at white and indigenous targets alike. Most of his characters are at least a little racist, and his politics aren't always as left as you'd think. Point is, he holds everybody's feet to the fire. He's hosting one of those Cocktails with Lewis and Clark gigs, which sounds informal enough to get Alexie to go off during the Q&A.
Sherman Alexie, Wed., Feb. 9, 6:30 p.m., $12, Academy of Natural Sciences, 19th Street and the Parkway, 215-299-1000.
