This Saturday's Olude Ibeji ("Twin Holiday") celebrates all children, but those who also happen to be twins really steal the scene. Introduced by the announcement, "Another pair of twins is in the house," their names will be read and honored. The festival makes more sense when you consider how sacred African culture considers humans who come in pairs or multiples: "Twins are a miracle you can witness on earth," says festival organizer Olade Olayinka. "The spirits of twins are guardian protectors of all children, who bring luck and happiness to all." During the day, Olayinka encourages the kids to "just be kids," which means participating in a magic show, learning a special twin-themed dance and keeping busy with roughly 20 activities and educational games. Watch out for one called "Your Nose Knows," a stumper involving blindfolds and the identification of smelly substances like bubble gum, cheese and rotten eggs. In the past, the Red Cross has performed a puppet show on health issues. This year, Officer Choo Choo — a small robot man inside a remote-controlled police car — will cover basic safety tips. Dress the same as a buddy (or twin) to compete in the annual look-alike contest. (Last year's prize was a crisp $2 bill.)

Ninth Annual Olude Ibeji Children's Festival, Sat., Mar. 26, 11 a.m.2 p.m., free (additional fee for snacks and games), Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 722 S. 17th St., 215-747-5737.
