Culled from the clunkiest of Japanese rockers across the U.S. (with guests from the motherland), the Japunks Panic Jamboree never fails to freak. Known for their furious bits woven through the once-televised sketch comedy Upright Citizens Brigade, Peelander-Z is no joke, what with the kinetic thrashing on their CD, Dancing Friendly, as ferocious as their stage show is mad odd. Okinawa's all-girl trio Bleach03 promises pogo-worthy pop rife with sharp harmonies. Ed Woods out-does Bleach for speed and precision with a Hawkwind/Shockabilly-like roar from the Tokyo-based trio's bare-assed stage show. This year's JPP is hosted by Boston's Mothra-meets-Power Rangers-meets-WWE freakshow Kaiju Big Battel, so don't be surprised if you see Mr. Silver Potato Head or Dr. Cube rocking out on the Khyber floor.
Fri., April 22, 9 p.m., $10, with Peelander-Z, Bleach03, Ed Woods, The Spunks, DJ Mammoth, MC Eagle, The Dudoos, and Japanese audio/visual by Eric Eiffel upstairs, The Khyber, 56 S. 2nd St., 215-238-5888.
