Game OverQUIZZO
One might say Quizzo host-with-the-most Johnny Goodtimes has come a long way since starting his trivia game at Nick's Roast Beef in 2002 that, heck, the whole damned Quizzolating enterprise of boozy camaraderie and rowdy song requests stands to outgrow his nights at the Dive, Doc Watson's, Black Sheep and Locust Rendezvous. Up next: a Quizzo Bowl showdown at World Café Live featuring cabaret band Lunchbox Cowgirls, the Kyle Dunleavy Steel Drum Quartet and breakdancers. "When you go to a world-class music venue, it's to be entertained, not to take part in the action," says Goodtimes. "When you play Quizzo, that's pretty much [all you do]." Competing teams can earn eight points simply by buying tickets in advance, and there's a scavenger hunt at www.johnnygoodtimes.com to earn even more. It's on.
The Johnny Goodtimes Quizzo Spectacular: Beat The Champs, Sun., Aug. 28, 6 p.m., $10-$12, World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., 215-222-1400, www.worldcafelive.com.
