We all have a song in our heart. Mine jumps between Bootsy Collins' "Psychoticbumpschool" and Jethro Tull's "Bungle in the Jungle." Damned flutes. I digress. Comcast's Brian Roberts luvs that "When You Wish Upon a Star" jawn. His dreamy dream is close to true — a tie to his long-beloved Disney that'll find the latter's ABC network screening hit fare like Desperate Housewives and Lost on Comcast's OnDemand, sans commercials, 24 hours after their initial run. Comcast'll add Disney movies eventually, slowly crushing the gap between a film's release in theatres and home consumption. Yes, Brian Roberts will help destroy the film industry. Atsa' no good. … I'm betting neither Disney nor Comcast'll handle Wayne Hamilton. The Vibroluxer-turned-director, whose The Peryton got a Fringe Cabaret soundtrack makeover from ooky-spooky David Talento, is editing a just-finished-filming documentary on re-creationist German soldiers who hold WWII weekends in Reading. Achtung, Baby! "We're primarily focusing on these, uh… I'm trying really hard to remain objective," says Hamilton of the upstate Pa. organization (www.grossdeutschland.com) dedicated to dressing like storm-troopers. "Most of our energy was expended on convincing them we weren't out to exploit them," states Hamilton, who collaborates on the film with his girlfriend, Christine Risley. "But they're scary and comical at the same time. Is it living history or guys playing Army?" asks Risley, a German-born filmmaker whose grandparents aided the resistance during the big one. "They freely admit their portrayal of Wehrmacht soldiers is controversial and that they encounter negativity. So what propels re-enactors to portray German soldiers? Is there any political motivation behind this 'hobby?'" Stay tuned. … Wee Dave P's Making Time gets gay-ish Sept. 16, mandancing at Pure with superguest Tom Vek ("I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes") out front and Natassia Fantassia behind the bahhhr. (PS: If anyone finds a Fendi men's wallet, please return it to Chris Palmer at Drinker's Tavern in Old City, 'k?) Oh, and speaking of wallets, we love finding those Pig Iron Pay Up wallets at places like Big Jar and The Last Drop — 100 actual "lost" wallets containing instructions, discounts and dilemmas for their Fringe show at The National. … Along with giving his Italiano bar at The Latham the coolest name — Eno — Bill Jolly's barhopping: opening a Jolly's Piano Joint next door to Eno as well as popping the top off his oaken rib joint/game haus, Jolly's Sporting Saloon at 39 S. 19th. … B.awesome and MC DistroYah Mos Def -- dropping an EP of hard-wicki-wicki? Get giggling when they join equally funny/less-than-funky Hockey Night at Manhattan Room Sept. 17. … Surely sick of seeing "cabaret" abused in the hands of the less capable, actual acting/singing types Jen Childs, Pete Pryor and 1812 Theater kick off a once-monthly Tin Angel residency Sept. 19 with a rerun of its infamous The Bad Song Cabaret featuring Dave Jadico, Dawn Falato and Tony Lawton ruining ruinous songs. Joy. … WHOWHATWHERE: There I was, at Lowe's Hotel, where I literally ran into Michael Showalter, a son of Princeton, N.J. ("I always came to Philly for the Mummers"). Unexpected, unprepared, cute in a beat-up Army jacket with a rad flower pin, The State/Stella star was running about, talking up his directorial debut, The Baxter — his post-Wet Hot American Summer writing project about a doormatty male who always gets left at the alter. "I have a bit of a love for the bittersweet," says Showalter about the lonely, Brooklyn-based romantic comedy. "Is it autobiographical?" he asks me before I ask him, quickly countering that, no, this is about any man who tries. "For any leading man, everything comes easily. The Baxter — he just tries too hard." There's the nice movie premiere — Sunday's Prince Theater screening of Curtis Hanson's Philly-filmed In Her Shoes with the director and its book's author, Jennifer Weiner, hanging at Joan Shepp — and there's the naughty one — porn babe Savanna Samson showing her azz to South Street passerbys after signing The New Devil in Miss Jones DVDs at The Mood. … Despite big-borough status, they tell me not many New Orleanians want to live in Philly. Nope. Not even for free. But Park the Van Records does. Chris Watson's label likee Philly bands so much (The Teeth and Dr. Dog before anyone else did) that it's heading here soon. Fruit baskets all around. … With Helmut Newton dead, porn-gloss photographer Tony Ward (just opened his "Come on Glamour Puss" at Seraphin Gallery) heads to the Chateau de Chaalis in France to teach nude photography. Surely, he'll hook up with pal/equally naughty post-pop/post-punk Philly painter Dean Rosenzweig, who had his first shows in Berlin at Gallery 24. Check www.oder24.com. Ball gags all around! … Shame on me for missing DJ Rich Medina's sixth anniversary for Afrorikan Vybe at Fluid. Shame on you if you don't buy his due-soon first-ever record — Connecting the Dots — on his new label, Kindred Spirits USA, through StudioDistribution. Respect all around for Philly's best-educated funkateer.
