Pink Jersey

RAINBOW CONNECTION

Starting off as the annual picnic of the Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association, Capital Rainbowfest has nearly doubled in size and entertainment offerings since 2002. According to PR coordinator Dennis McGrath, it draws "lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, intersexed and straight-but-not-narrow people" from all over central New Jersey, Bucks County, Philadelphia and New York. Taking over historic Mill Hill Park on Sunday, this year's festivities include food and retail vendors, performances from outspoken entertainers such as Ladyjam and Pandora Scooter, outrageous gay music showcase Fagapalooza and a concert from the New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus. The event also marks Trenton's "absolutely fabulous" inaugural GLTBI pride parade. McGrath is optimistic that the all-ages Rainbowfest will reflect the unity and welcoming spirit in South Jersey's queer community. "It's a beautiful fall day in a fabulous park full of great people and great entertainment. We already have more exhibitors signed up than we had in total last year. We're expecting big things."
