Get off your ass and do something!

You've seen the footage. You've read the headlines. Hurricane Katrina has left tens of thousands of people without homes, neighborhoods, jobs and loved ones. As the national and global communities rally together in the relief effort, Philadelphia and Jersey are doing their share. Here's a quick-hit list of ways you can help out.

B.J. Jansen and Conjura Fundraiser
Thu., Sept. 15, 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m., $1+
Baritone saxophonist B.J. Jansen and Conjura take the stage in a benefit concert; the musicians' pay will be donated to the Red Cross. Ortlieb's JazzHaus, 847 N. Third St., 215-922-1035.

Beer for Bourbon Street

Bars, breweries and beer distributors across the city will be selling donated beer to raise money for select charities. Beads for Bucks

SKITSoid Fundraising Party

Philly Loves New Orleans Musical Party

Zydeco-A-Go-Go, Dukes of Destiny, Philly Gumbo, Randy Lippincott Band, Wild Bohemians and other local musicians will play a New Orleans-styled tribute. Come hungry — Mt. Benefit Choir Concert

Chris' Jazz Cafe Hurricane Relief Fundraiser

Family Fun Day Fundraiser
Sun., Oct. 2, 3-6 p.m., $3-$5

Franklin Fountain Cajun Cone Fundraiser

Philly's favorite ice cream saloon has rolled out $1.25 cayenne-spiced chocolate waffle cones in honor of Nola's tongue-on-fire cuisine. Proceeds will be donated to the rebuilding of the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, an old apothecary and big inspiration for Franklin's own interior. Franklin Fountain, 116 Market St., 215-627-1899.

Jambalaya Special
Served daily through September
For one month, the Joint is turning money from its signature jambalaya — featuring andouille sausage, smoked chicken, ham, celery, creole spices and rice — over to the Red Cross. Eat up and order seconds. The Smoked Joint, 1420 Locust St., 215-732-7500.

White Dog Cafe Fund Drive
Ongoing
For every dollar the Dog receives in donations, it'll make a matching contribution. Proceeds will go to Tides Rapid Response Fund to support the rebuilding of grassroots nonprofits in the Gulf states. White Dog Cafe, 3420 Sansom St., 215-386-9224.
