Magic Fingers

ADULT/OCCULT

Hey ladies, LaSara FireFox wants you to do it more. Like, a lot more. The ordained Pagan priestess has been writing about sex for years, but the recent publication of her Sexy Witch book marks her first foray into teaching non-Pagans how to liberate their libidos. A compendium designed to radicalize sexual identity, Sexy Witch retools Pagan practices to foster female empowerment. "One of the main points is to help readers create a self-referential relationship with culture," explains FireFox. Simply put, she advises women to dismiss the societal tensions that accompany sex, love their bodies and celebrate the best of boot knocking. "People might get offended that [I suggest we] worship ourselves, but I'm all for it," she says.

Touching on everything from masturbation to gender deconstruction, Sexy Witch contextualizes sexual discovery through numinous practices. The "Pussy Power!" chapter, for example, examines the female anatomy and offers ritualistic exercises to honor its beauty. FireFox's uber-direct approach to sex is beyond refreshing; while reading excerpts might induce nervous laughter, she comforts bashful novices through colloquial humor. (A section on female ejaculation is titled "Geysers of Lovin.") Some women might be apprehensive about Sexy Witch because of its magical methodology, but FireFox says her words are open to interpretation -- she herself draws from anarchist and existentialist schools of thought in assembling her views and maintains that her chief focus is still sweet, sweet lovemaking. "Sexual energy is juicy and wonderful and makes us feel great." Starting Friday, FireFox will bestow her expertise upon Philadelphians as part of a 20-city promotional book tour. Passional will host "Pussy Gazing," a sexual support group of sorts that helps women become better acquainted with their, well, you know what. And the A-Space anarchist collective is hosting a salon-style event that encourages dialogue on how culture impacts self-image. "I haven't been to Philly in five years and I'm really looking forward to it," says FireFox. "Last time I was there, I met some remarkable people. Really delicious." She's not talking about pretzels, people.
