Take Back TV

Hip-hop/rock/pop

What happens to presidential candidates when they lose? Most return to their lesser offices or shill for sex-enhancing drugs. Al Gore decided to launch a youth cable channel. Initially imagined as an alternative to corporate television, Current TV has fallen into the "wanna be hip and trendy" category. But credibility might be on the way. Its latest project, Take Back TV, is focusing on the original mission by holding free concerts coinciding with rallies for productive programming. The tour comes to Dilworth Plaza at City Hall today, with ska/punk/rock pioneers Fishbone (pictured), native sons The Roots and Rich Medina, and the boys from North Cakalak, Little Brother. Organizers are encouraging participants to get involved by bringing their camera equipment and cell phones. This revolution, if it is one, will be televised.

Thu., Oct. 20, 5 p.m., free with Web site sign-up, with Suffrajet, Pepper's Ghost and more, Dilworth Plaza, 1400 JFK Blvd., www.takebacktv.com.
