All That Glitter

Fresh from their show at Mexican fashion week, Heatherette designers Traver Rains and Richie Rich welcomed guests at Matthew Izzo on 13th Street, where they were showcasing their Living Dolls holiday couture collection. Along with the effusive Rains and Rich tottered the tanned, enhanced, impossible-looking and for all intents and purposes naked transexual model Amanda Lepore in six-inch stilettos.

As Izzo himself scurried around in a green corduroy blazer and strategically ripped jeans, Lepore provided photographers from Philly Style with various shots of her huge lips, nips and, uh, other body parts better left to the imagination.

"I've been with Heatherette since 1999? Yeah. I'm sort of like their runway…? Like a finale?" said Lepore before going off to pose for more photos.

"I'm excited to be in Philly," said Rich, powdering his nose with MAC pressed powder. "We're only here for two days though. Where can I get a good cheesesteak?" he asked. A gaggle of excited fashion wannabes shouted advice as to whether Pat's or Geno's would be the better bet.

Heatherette's new holiday collection is available exclusively at Izzo's boutique and includes T-shirts, skirts, denim and dresses that start at around $85. The line has a pretend feel, and most of the items seem suited to a costume party, or for lounging around your house covered in body glitter while drinking cosmos and smoking.

"Matthew really gets the gist of who we are," says Rains. "[His clothes] are what the cool girl has in her closet. Our [holiday collection] is all about living dolls, candy, dolls, fun and sparkle."

As such, Paris Hilton is still the Heatherette team's muse, as, according to Rich, she has said she wants to be a "real live Barbie, although Paris does things that Barbie would never do." (Um, Richie, do you know what kids make Barbie do?)

As the fashion crowd drank pink drinks and tried to look good squeezing through the crowd, gay rappers V.I.P. huddled in the back and talked about their tattoos. The evening culminated when an overexcited party-goer yelled, "Traver Rains squeezed my furry puppy!" pointing to a rabbit-fur dog dangling from her purse before walking out the door.
