Lefty's Deceiverrock/pop
Anyone's who seen 'em in the last six-or-so years knows that Philly trio Lefty's Deceiver puts on one of the most formidable rock shows around. Imagine what they'll be like as a four-piece. On Wednesday, Andy Williams (guitar, vocals), Mike Kennedy (drums) and Kris Muller (bass) will share the stage with founding member and former bassist Ed Hogarty, who left the band in 2001. This time he'll be playing guitar. ("It's a little weird," Hogarty admits.) According to Williams, despite the expanded lineup, "the structures of the songs are, for the most part, what they were. [We're just] able to play a little bit more with space and volume." The group is taking it one show at a time, but they admit to enjoying the rehearsal process too much to treat it as a one-off. "For the amount of time we're pouring in to getting ready for this show, it would be a shame to do just one," Hogarty says.
Wed., Nov. 23, 9 p.m., $8-$10, with Mazarin and Sound Team, North Star Bar, 27th and Poplar sts., 215-684-0808, www.northstarbar.com.
