Styrofoam

Electronic

Belgian DJ Arne Van Petegem, aka Styrofoam, has lots of friends in the electro-pop universe. For 2004's Nothing's Lost he called in a bunch of favors to make his fourth album also his finest. Lali Puna's Valerie Trebeljahr and Anticon's Alias guested on album opener "Misguided"; Death Cab/Postal Service's Ben Gibbard sang and played on a song; American Analog Set's Andrew Kenney sang the sleepy, weepy "Front to Back"; the Notwist's Marcus Acher dropped in as well. The whole affair plays like a fuzzy-electro-indie-pop love-fest, with guitars and glitches and beats and soulful vocals. While it may seem a tall feat to pull off without the rest of the gang in tow, Van Petegem will have rhymer/producer Alias (an Anticon label founder) along for the ride, meaning that even if they can't pull off tracks just like on the album, whatever they pull off will be nothing short of amazing.

Mon., Nov. 21, 8 p.m., $10, with Vytear and Starkey, North Star Bar, 27th and Poplar sts., 215-684-0808, www.northstarbar.com.
