MARATHON RADIO SHOW
WPRB's 18th Annual 24-Hour Holiday Radio Show
Like Santa himself, good Christmas music is so rare as to be mistaken for mythical. But also like the jolly old elf, our good pal Jon Solomon magically appears every Christmas Eve to make you a believer. The WPRB DJ's annual 24-hour marathon always has its share of awful holiday tunes—let's be honest, that's tradition—but it's also impressive just how many actually rockin' Rudolph and drummer boy tracks he's got in his sack. And besides, we've found nothing puts us in the holiday spirit like listening to a disc jockey go slowly mad from isolation and exhaustion.
Sat., Dec. 24, 6 p.m.-Sun., Dec. 25, 6 p.m., WPRB 103.3 FM, www.wprb.com.

ROCK/POP

Anne Heaton
Here's a triple-header with some punch: Chicago-based singer-songwriter (and classically trained pianist) Anne Heaton, along with Philly's own Buried Beds and Bebek. Heaton, joined by longtime musical partner/guitarist Frank Marotta, is out plugging her paean to love, Give In, and her new EP, I Know This (Q Division), which feature two tracks recorded at the Tin Angel. Buried Beds brings its unique fusion of heart-on-your-sleeve melancholia, indie rock and touches of classical music, while Bebek's sinewy world beats and fluid cabaret pop will be highlighted by—guest dancers!?
Fri., Dec. 23, 7:30 p.m., $13, World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., 215-222-1400, www.worldcafelive.com.

HIP-HOP

Power 99's Holla-Day Jam
Puberty is a beautiful thing! Herds of teens will invade the Wachovia to catch a glimpse of sweethearts Bow Wow and Ciara, along with some other boys that have been visited by the testosterone fairy. As they bare chests and belt lyrics to their chart-topping hits, girls will scream and cry. Awww, it's all just so cute!
Tue., Dec. 27, 7 p.m., $27.50-$47.50, hosted by Da Brat, with Omarion, Trey Songz, Chris Brown and Marques Houston, Wachovia Spectrum, 3601 Broad St., 215-336-2000, www.power99.com.

DANCE/ELECTRONIC
The Straight Dope
The Seclusiasis kids won't slow down. On top of the heavy production and recording duties, Dev79 and co. jam their schedules with monthly events. Every fourth Friday, bodies pack the Straight Dope dancefloor to dancehall, breaks, reggaeton and just plain hip-hop. Sweaty bodies. Yummy.
Fri., Dec. 23, 10 p.m., free, with Cramske, Dev79 and Generic Man, The Khyber, 56 S. Second St., 215-238-5888, www.thekhyber.com.

ROCK/POP

Danbert Nobacon
Ignore the obviousness of their one dumb hit, and what you have in Chumbawumba is a roughshod agit-folk sound capped off by wry, frank lyrics. Since the '80s, frontman Danbert Nobacon and friends have dissed fame, fascism, charity and all manner of dogma. Only now, their/his rugged music is more beat-friendly, an impish sampled folktronic groove.
Mon., Dec. 26, 10 p.m., $5, with J Pepi Ginsberg, Eric Carbanero and members of The Doctor and Philip, projections by Marge, Tritone, 1508 South St., 215-545-0475; Thu., Dec. 29, 1 p.m., free in-store at The Marvelous, 208 S. 40th St., www.themarvelous.com/free; Thu., Dec. 29, 7 p.m., free, with Mischief Brew and Emily Zietlyn, Green Line Café, 4239 Baltimore Ave., 215-222-3431, www.greenlinecafe.com.
