Pryor ConvictionsSeems a little macabre that Rain Pryordaughter of icon-i-comic Richardwould tour this tragicomedic one-woman musical about her dueling identities so soon after her dad's death. But no one ever accused the Pryor women of being too sensitive. (See stepmom Jennifer Lee Pryor's cash-grab Richard Pryor: I Ain't Dead Yet, #*%$#@!! on Comedy Central.) But if nothing else, Rain speaks from the heart of the matter, describing a drug-addled-but-Hollywood-privileged life as the kid of a black megastar and white Jewish woman Shelley R. Bonus, a stripper-turned-astronomer. Though it's gotta be tough being the daughter of the riskiest, ribaldest, most coked-up comic since Lenny Bruce, Rain's take on life among the 90210 set is pretty sharp. That she can (and does) tell a few of dad's old jokes means she doesn't mind taking a risk or two herself. Then again, having gone through her own drug thing (she's been clean since 1993) makes telling a couple of old gags a breeze. Even if they are part of your genetic code.
