In an iTunes exclusive track—reported to be the first country and Western song celebrating inter-cowboy love—Willie is totally blunt, irreverent and comfortable with his subject matter. To sum up: Well, shit, man—what did you think the deal was with all that leather? The saloon waltz and Jim Beam orchestrations make it clear that the singer is not condemning, but chuckling along with lines like "A cowboy might brag about things that he's done with his women/ but the ones that brag loudest are the ones that are most likely queer." What sound like jabs really serve as a chaser for the more important messages at heart: Small rural towns are unduly judgmental, sexual ambiguity exists in both sexes, and furthermore, "You can't fuck with the lady that lives in each cowboy's head." All this'll probably rankle listeners on one overly sensitive political extreme or the other, but if you're sane and have a sense of humor, you'll just smile, dust off your Stetson and bob your head to the beat.
