I can't stop talking about Imaginative Representations of the Viet Nam War, an archive at La Salle University's Connelly Library with over 10,000 items created by artists (www.lasalle.edu/library/vietnam/viet.htm). My favorites right now are the mythopoetics of the archive's curator, John Baky; slide carousels accompanied by an audio tape covering the transformations of pulp fiction covers; collections of film stills from Fonda/Sutherland's F.T.A. (Free the Army); Rambo on videodisc; Free Speech Movement record albums; and film posters for Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun. But I've been talking about this for three years—with this resource in Philly I can't figure out why all artists aren't sticking with 1968 like me. I'm sounding like a broken LP 33.

Collecting nowadays means seeking cards that contain pieces of jerseys, hats, bats and helmets used by Hall of Famers. Cut autographs are all the rage as well. The signatures of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson and more are cut from checks, index cards, etc., and glued into beautifully designed cards. There was even a Pope cut auto! As dorky as it sounds, every time I tear into a pack, looking for a piece of Ichiro's bat or a cut autograph by one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence (not kidding), the little kid in me comes out to play.

She's one of my favorite writers, and I am always so grateful for the chance to hear/read her voice. I'm super psyched that Horizons Cafe has moved out of the suburbs and opened downtown. They've been hands down the best vegetarian restaurant in the area. They have a truly inventive and unique menu, regardless of whether you are a vegetarian or not. They have a great knowledge of cuisine and have some really amazing, exotic ingredients. (Ever have a boniato? They fucking rule.) Finally our rad city will have a gourmet vegetarian/vegan restaurant that can rival any other. Fuck you, New York.
