Naked City

Running Numbers

2 Number of times I had to loop around before picking up a friend at the Philly International Airport. I'm pretty sure it was Ben Franklin who said, "He who would sacrifice security for convenience deserves a newspaper column in which to vent about such societal imbalances."

6 Rank of Philadelphia in a listing of cities that are most prepared for an oil crisis. CNNMoney.com reported that SustainLane, the sustainable living Web site that compiled the list, praised Philly "for its abundant farmers markets and community gardens." Running Numbers in turn praises SustainLane for its interpretation of the word "abundant."

8 Number of additional "Rooftop Thursdays" to be held at Citizens Bank Park after the sold-out inaugural evening April 6. The $12-themed parties include a collectable pint glass, food and drink specials and a chance to meet the Phillies Ballgirls.

99 Percentage of customers who would recommend CityPass to others, according to www.citypass.com. CityPass is a $47 ticket that provides access to the Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Trolley Works, the Franklin Institute, the National Constitution Center, Adventure Aquarium, and a choice between The Academy of Natural Sciences and the Independence Seaport Museum.

$166,000,000 Minimum amount of federal funding the five-county metropolitan area stands to lose from the spending cuts in the Bush administration's 2007 budget, according to the Institute for the Study of Civic Values. Areas that will be affected by the downsizing include housing and community development, law enforcement and public safety, schools, community services, Medicaid, food stamps and fuel assistance programs. Thank God Rooftop Thursdays and CityPass are such great values.
